The Look You Want. The Strength Your Home Needs.

Get the timeless appearance of tile, wood shake or architectural shingles with the strength and long-term performance of steel underneath.

Stone-coated steel roofing gives Central Florida homeowners a durable, lightweight and energy-efficient alternative to traditional roofing materials. It is designed to stand up to demanding weather while adding serious curb appeal to your home.

Don’t just take it from us,
hear what your neighbors have to say.

WHAT IS STONE-COATED STEEL ROOFING?

Stone-coated steel roofing is a metal roofing system made from formed steel panels finished with a textured, stone-coated surface.

The panels are shaped to recreate the appearance of traditional roofing materials such as clay tile, wood shake and dimensional shingles. Underneath that premium finish is the durability, impact resistance and lightweight performance of steel.

In other words, it looks like the roofing style you love without giving up the protection you need.

Gravity Roofing offers Unified Steel® stone-coated roofing in a range of profiles and colors designed to complement traditional, Mediterranean, contemporary and Florida-style homes.

WHY CENTRAL FLORIDA HOMEOWNERS CHOOSE STONE-COATED STEEL

Florida roofs deal with more than sunshine. Heavy rain, intense heat, strong winds and sudden storms can place enormous pressure on a roofing system.

Stone-coated steel is engineered to provide dependable protection without making your home look industrial or overly modern.

Built for
Demanding Weather

Approved Unified Steel roofing assemblies are designed to meet stringent Florida wind requirements, including requirements for High-Velocity Hurricane Zones.

The exact approval and installation method depend on the selected profile, roof design and property location. Gravity Roofing will verify that the proposed system is appropriate for your home before installation.

Class 4 Impact Resistance

Unified Steel panels achieve UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance, the highest standard classification under that testing method.

Selected systems have also been tested for Very Severe Hail performance, helping provide another layer of protection when severe weather moves through the area.

Impact-resistant does not mean damage-proof, but it does mean the system has been tested to a significantly higher performance standard.

Class A Fire Resistance

When installed as an approved complete roofing assembly, stone-coated steel can provide a Class A fire rating—the highest fire-resistance classification available for roofing systems.

A Class A assembly is designed to resist fire exposure, reduce flame spread and provide an added line of defense for the home.

Lightweight Protection

Unified Steel roofing weighs approximately 1.5 pounds per square foot.

That makes it a lightweight alternative for homeowners who want the appearance of traditional tile without placing the same level of weight on the roof structure.

Designed for Long-Term Performance

Stone-coated steel is made for homeowners who would rather invest in a durable roofing system than repeatedly replace a shorter-lived material.

It requires relatively little routine maintenance and is designed to provide dependable performance for decades when properly installed and maintained.

A 50-Year Limited Warranty

Eligible Unified Steel systems are backed by a 50-year limited, fully transferable manufacturer warranty.

Available warranty coverage may include protection relating to winds of up to 120 mph and Class 4 hail, subject to the selected product, installation method, registration requirements, exclusions and official manufacturer terms.

A transferable warranty may also provide added value if you sell your home during the applicable warranty period.

STONE-COATED STEEL ROOFING PROFILES

One of the biggest advantages of stone-coated steel is that it does not have to look like a conventional metal roof.

Unified Steel offers five distinct profiles, allowing you to select a roof that works with the architecture and character of your home.

Pine-Crest Shake

Pine-Crest Shake is engineered to recreate the texture and dimension of hand-split wood shake.

It gives a home a warm, premium appearance while replacing the maintenance concerns of natural wood with the durability of steel.

Cottage Shingle

Cottage Shingle offers a clean, classic mid-profile shingle appearance with dimensional color blends.

It is a strong option for homeowners who like the familiar look of architectural shingles but want to upgrade to a longer-lasting steel roofing system.

Granite-Ridge Shingle

Granite-Ridge is a low-profile, high-wind-resistant shingle designed to provide a streamlined and understated appearance.

It pairs the look of a traditional shingle roof with the strength and longevity of steel.

Barrel-Vault Tile

Barrel-Vault Tile recreates the traditional high-barrel appearance of Spanish tile.

It works especially well with Mediterranean, Spanish, coastal and Florida-inspired architecture—without the considerable weight associated with traditional tile.

Pacific Tile

Pacific Tile is a medium-profile tile inspired by the traditional architecture of Southern Europe.

It provides the elegance and definition of Mediterranean tile in a lightweight steel roofing system.

ENERGY-EFFICIENT ROOFING FOR FLORIDA HOMES

Help Keep More Heat Out of Your Attic

A roof absorbs a significant amount of heat throughout a Florida day. That heat can transfer through the roof deck and into the attic, forcing the home’s cooling system to work harder.

Certain stone-coated steel profiles can be installed with above-sheathing ventilation. This creates an airspace between portions of the roofing system and the roof deck.

As the air beneath the panels warms, it rises and can escape near the ridge. The continuous movement of air helps reduce the amount of heat transferring into the attic.

What Did Manufacturer Testing Show?

This test demonstrates the potential difference the complete roof assembly can make. Actual temperatures and energy savings will vary based on the home, insulation, ventilation, roof design, weather, installation method and selected product.

Selected Unified Steel colors are also Cool Roof Rated and are designed to reflect more sunlight and heat away from the roof surface.

STONE-COATED STEEL VS. OTHER ROOFING MATERIALS

Stone-Coated Steel vs. Traditional Tile

Stone-coated steel can deliver the dimensional appearance of clay or concrete tile at approximately 1.5 pounds per square foot.

This makes it an attractive option for homeowners who want a tile-style roof but are concerned about roof weight, structural requirements, breakage or ongoing maintenance.

Stone-Coated Steel vs. Standing Seam Metal

Standing seam metal has a clean, contemporary appearance with long vertical panels and concealed fasteners.

Stone-coated steel is also a metal roofing system, but its formed panels and textured surface recreate more traditional materials such as tile, shake and shingles.

Choose standing seam when you want a distinctly modern metal appearance. Choose stone-coated steel when you want metal performance with a more traditional residential look.

Stone-Coated Steel vs. Asphalt Shingles

Asphalt shingles usually have a lower initial price, making them a practical option for many homes.

Stone-coated steel generally requires a larger upfront investment but is designed to provide:

  • A longer service life
  • Higher impact resistance
  • Greater profile and design flexibility
  • Reduced replacement frequency
  • Low ongoing maintenance
  • Enhanced storm performance

The right choice depends on your budget, plans for the home and long-term priorities.

IS STONE-COATED STEEL WORTH THE INVESTMENT?

Stone-coated steel may be a strong fit when you:

  • Plan to remain in the home for several years
  • Want to reduce the likelihood of another roof replacement
  • Prefer the appearance of tile, shake or architectural shingles
  • Need a lighter alternative to traditional tile
  • Want enhanced wind and impact performance
  • Value low-maintenance materials
  • Are interested in improving the roof system’s energy efficiency
  • Want a transferable manufacturer warranty
  • Prefer long-term value over the lowest initial price

It may not be the right option for every home or every budget. Our job is to show you the available choices clearly so that you can make an informed decision.

No confusing sales pitch. No pressure. Just honest recommendations based on your home.
